2025年5月14日上午，世界数字教育联盟（以下简称“联盟”）理事会第一次会议和2025全体大会于2025世界数字教育大会期间在武汉成功举行，标志着联盟治理机制正式建立，联盟迈入常态化、规范化运行新阶段。
2024年1月30日，以“数字教育：应用、共享、创新”为主题的2024世界数字教育大会在上海开幕。会议期间，世界数字教育联盟正式宣布成立。联盟发起方代表，中国教育国际交流协会会长刘利民向与会嘉宾介绍了联盟成立背景和对联盟未来发展的有关考虑。
